BUSINESS CHALLENGES

Maharashtra Public Works Departmentwas planning to implement a datacenter that shall run the web portal for its vendors so that they can store their data online on these servers. At the same time PWD was looking for high availability and load balancing features in servers to achieve better performance and uptime.

 

SOLUTION AND RESULT

We have implemented clusters of application servers per application wise to provide high availability and load balancing features. All the server clusters are connected to the SAN which stores the database.

Servers are running Windows 2012 R2 64 bit edition as OS and tailor-made SCADA based applications. Oracle is used as a database for all these servers. A common SAN storage of 24TB raw capacity, with RAID 60 is used to provide sufficient storage space for server users.16Gbps FC switchhas been used between storage and servers to get uncompromised performance.

Multiple internet leased lines terminated on Cyberoam appliance are used here to provide secured connection from vendor’s computers to web servers using SSL VPN. Same Cyberoam appliance is used to provide load balancing feature for the application servers.
