BUSINESS CHALLENGES
Maharashtra Public Works Department was planning to implement a datacenter that shall run the web portal for its vendors so that they can store their data online on these servers. At the same time PWD was looking for high availability in servers and data replication in SAN storage for high availability.
SOLUTION AND RESULT
We have implemented 7 VMs on 3 physical servers per application wise and implemented VM high availability on another set of 3 servers to provide business continuity. All servers are connected to the centralized SAN for data storage and this data is again replicated on another SAN in another building.
Servers running SCADA based applications on Linux and Windows 2012 R2 platform and MySQL and MS- SQL is used as a database. SAN storage of 28TB raw capacity and 8/16Gbps FC switch is used between storage and servers to get uncompromised performance. An additional SAN storage of same capacity is installed in remote building for online, real time, synchronous block-level replication.
Multiple internet leased lines terminated on Cyberoam UTM appliance are used here to provide secured connection from vendor’s computers to web servers using SSL VPN.
